Young Musicians’ Concert

A welcome return to our highly successful Young Musicians’ concert at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

The programme in St Michael’s church will feature violinist Julia Hwang who was a finalist in the string section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2012. She is currently at school in Bristol and will be joined by finalists from the Taunton Young Musicians’ 2012 final including tenor Oliver Kelham and pianist Weng Soon Tee who was the winner of the competition.

The first 15 minutes of the concert will feature some young local musicians including Nat Jenkins from Milverton Stores and a short performance by the Blue Weasels singers with one or two little surprises.

In addition to giving the young performers concert experience, the programme will show the high standards of musicianship the next generation are achieving.

Blossom Street

Blossom Street

Blossom Street is a dynamic vocal ensemble of highly trained professional singers in their twenties. The group performs a very wide range of music tailored to the audience or venue – from jazz and pop arrangements to close harmony to well-loved classical favourites. In 2005, Blossom Street filmed a medley of Christmas carols for BBC2, since when they have performed nationwide. In 2008, the group sang to Prince Charles on ITV1 as part of his 60th birthday celebrations, and the following year gave their début in the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre as part of the Voicelab series.

We are delighted to welcome them to Milverton where they will perform their ‘Sleep Holy Babe’ programme, featured on BBC Radio 3’s ‘The Choir’ and Classic FM, David Mellor’s Christmas CD of the year 2011.
