Busch Ensemble

Omri Epstein · piano; Mathieu van Bellen · violin; Ori Epstein · cello

“All are within their twenties; the youngest recruit, cellist Ori Epstein, is a mere 22. But the group already play as though musically joined at the hip – something to be expected with Epstein and his older brother Omri, the group’s marvellously sensitive pianist.

Beyond the players’ individual gifts, what impressed most was the group’s effortless musicianship and unity of thought and attack. The threesome even seemed to be breathing in synch”

The Busch Ensemble is a London – based piano trio founded in November 2010. They take their name from Adolf Busch, the German violinist and composer who later settled in the USA; it is his violin that is played by Mathieu van Bellen.

Winners of the 2012 Royal Overseas League Competition they are one of the leading piano trios of the new generation.

Most recently they have been selected for the prestigious Chamber Studio Mentorship Programme, which will expose them to guidance and teaching from some of the world’s leading musicians.
